The first item to disappear from shelves was toilet paper. Unsettling feelings of suspicion clouded foreheads wherever toilet paper was purchased. Was that person buying too much? Did they need it? COVID-19 raised impulses to shame others, observe and judge their actions, and stockpile items out of fear.
